Biography

I've been making films since 1998 when my friend, filmmaker Maureen Bradley said: Why don't you take that bitter little rant of yours, apply for a Video In Mini Grant, and turn that sucker into a video. And so I did. It became 1-800-Yer Mama.

Since then I've made a few more films and mentored video production through various organizations, including Out on Screen Vancouver Queer Film Festival, the Gulf Islands Film & Television School, and the Access to Media Education Society. I have further been known to work as a film distributor, project manager, facilitator, receptionist, food co-op clerk, office cleaner and educational programs coordinator.

In 2004, I was thrilled to be awarded the Gerry Brunet Memorial Award for Best BC Short Film at Out on Screen. This was for Bear River, the main strength of which, in my opinion, is the beautiful storytelling of Louise Croft. Yay us!

These days, when I'm not making films (which, let's face it, is most of the time), I work as a freelance graphic designer and do communications work at a social justice research institute. I also spend a certain amount of time musing on the many complexities of parenting a teenager, making crafty little things and dealing with my badly-behaved cat.
